The original and complete title of the book is: The Second Report of The Bureau of Archives For the Province of Ontario, 1904. Subtitle: United Empire Loyalists, Enquiry into the Losses and Services in Consequence of Their Loyalty, Evidence in the Canadian Claims 

The Bureau of Archives of Ontario, now known as Archives Ontario, published an annual report which included important historical information in some years. The report of 1904 was one of those years. 

The 1904 Bureau of Archives Report consisted of original accounts and evidence of United Empire Loyalist claims that were processed after the American Revolutionary War. Those claims were made in response to a British program that was designed to provide those Americans who had remained loyal to the British during the American Revolution, with land in Canada. After an informative history of the circumstances surrounding the movement of the Loyalists to Canada, and a preamble on the claim process, the bulk of the content of the 1904 Report includes evidence presented to establish that specific "Loyalists" qualified for "UE" status and the resulting benefits. Much related historical information is also included in the Report.

The claims advanced by the Loyalists on account of services in connection with and arising from the Revolutionary War were investigated by Special Commissioners appointed by the British Parliament, two of whom, viz.: Col. Thomas Dundas, and Mr. Jeremy Pemberton, were sent to Canada, to meet claimants personally and obtain evidence on the spot..... The original papers have been literally copied and form the subject matter of this Report.

This digital version of the 1904 Bureau of Archives Report is of value insofar as it provides a reliable and true copy of the 1436 page report which was printed on paper that had a high acid content. High acid content in paper causes book pages to become brittle and discolored with age. Researchers will appreciate the Adobe search feature which enables users to search for any word or phrase that may be contained in the book.
